Weekend of Grazing

Spent most of the weekend grazing. Met up with a friend Saturday night and we kick started the night off with some Nebbiolo and food at Lecosho. My friend informed me that the owner had sold Matt’s in the Market (very sad) and had opened this restaurant about a year back.

The burger was very tasty and made of beef from Painted Hills. I liked the prominent beefy flavor that so many burgers lack now. It was of course cooked perfectly and accompanied by a flavorful aioli. Also enjoyed the braised beef short ribs with pickled beets. They were so tender and fatty the meat just falls apart, two qualities I most admire about braised short ribs. I like my cows plump and inactive. Also ate the spaetzle that is tossed in a hot pan with brown butter and a good healthy dose of pecorino romano cheese added after for a kick in flavoring. 1,000x better than the spaetzle I had at Spring Hill. I like it when it is slightly crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Of course butter and cheese flavoring doesn’t hurt. Final assessment of restaurant: Food is made of good quality ingredients, and cooked well. Portions are on the small side though for the price that you pay. Definitely not a bargain meal, but I enjoyed it.

Walked off part 1 of the meal and headed for Sea Garden. It has been many years since I’ve been there, but forever ingrained in my memory is how good the Honey Walnut Prawns were. I’m happy to report that they are still as good as the first time I had them. It was my friend’s first time having the dish, and he said it tasted just like….  Well I can’t say. It might scare you from eating them, but coming from him it is a compliment. We also had the Longevity Noodles. He is a huge fan of this dish and has got it many times, I’m pretty luke warm about it. What he loves about the dish is what I’m not in love with. The noodles are very soft and have a pillowy feel to them.

Sunday was spent at Snoqualmie Casino and with a different friend, attended a show I got free tickets. We had both never attended Snoqualmie’s outside venue. It is actually pretty nice and much better than the ballroom. Even if you are far back, you have no problem seeing the stage because of the stadium bleacher seating. So we saw Gallagher. He may be 65, but he acts like a cantankerous 90 year old man. It was typical Gallagher, but add in 2 heaping cups of bitterness to the mix. Some of his jokes hit a very low level and may of been very true, but hit the not funny realm. It felt like the audience was more of the joke for him. And a lot of his jokes went over most of people’s heads. I still enjoyed it. He doesn’t smash whole watermelons and apples anymore. I think after 2 heart attacks, he has to take it easy now. I noticed all of the items he was smashing were fairly easy stuff.

After the show we of course did the King Crab Buffet. I paid for almost both of our meals with just points I’ve made at the casino. Came out $14 ahead on my gambling also. Anything in the positive is good in my opinion. Played quite a bit, hope they send me more free show tickets. It will give them the chance to get the $14 back I gained from them. ;-)
