Another Birthday Gone and Done

This is a two week old post that I mostly had done, but had forgotten to finish and post it. Oops…

Wow! Had quite the birthday yesterday two weeks ago. I won something, collected free things, received gifts, went to free movie, celebrated with some great people. Does it get any better?

I’ve never been a big celebrator of my birthday. Usually I pass the day like it is any other. I always remove my birthday from Facebook, so that people don’t feel obligated to give me birthday greetings. In all honesty, I don’t even know if my birthday is actually my birthday. I was abandoned as an infant, then adopted at 6 months old. In conclusion: The date on my birth certificate is made up. It is really just a guesstimate of when I was born. There is no way of truly knowing the date of my real birth.

But… It is really nice to celebrate the gift of life on occasion. Especially with a couple of friends.

So met up with a couple of people at Gordon Biersch for their Happy Hour. Place was chosen due to location. They were going to have a Twitter party later in the afternoon and there was a free movie playing at Pacific Place that night.

I knew of a Twitter check-in incentive that Pacific Place was running for a couple of days. 5 people at random that checked in on their Twitter the location of where they were in Pacific Place and their location, they would come and bring a gift to that person. Only 5 people per day between the hours of 10am and 5pm. So I prepped them up and mentioned on their Facebook how I would be there at 4pm the next day, and how it was my birthday. Give them an incentive to save a gift till late in the day for a birthday girl. ;-) It totally worked as I had hoped. I checked into Pacific Place with my location and how it was my birthday. About 10-20mins later 4 people came up to our table and asked if anyone checked in on twitter. I said I did. And they gave me my gift! A $20 gift card to Pacific Place. Happy Birthday to me. haha. And I know they were waiting for me, because 3 other people had checked in just a couple minutes prior to me. Or it was just luck of the draw.

So we had some drinks and a couple of non-drinkers had their coke. I opened up my gifts and I just want to say… I got some of the BEST gifts I’ve ever received. I know I can be a really hard person to understand and read sometimes. So it can be really tough choosing a gift for me. Not that many people “get” me. But I got some of the most thoughtful and wonderful gifts ever.

I received my first ever Glassy Baby. What makes it particularly special is the color though. If I were to buy one for myself, that is the exact color I would of chosen for myself. Dark red. It is just beautiful. I also got Advil… Since I had mentioned not too long ago how my current bottle is 5 years past the expiration. But it still works! New bottle will be for people who are my guests in my home. hehe. I also got a gift certificate for a manicure/pedicure. I’ve never ever gone and done it in my lifetime. Just one of those things that I don’t spend money on. I think I’m going to use it before the SIFF gala. So I can have pretty polished nails with my fancy dress. I’ve also never ever been to a baseball game, and I got tickets to that. It even comes with a free hot dog and soda!!! And now I can finally finish that damn movie The Count of Monte Cristo, sober. AND Scarecrow and Mrs. King DVDs! *sigh* Bruce Boxlietner in that show was my heart throb in high school. I was an unusual child. All of the other kids liked New Kids on the Block, River Pheonix, etc. And later in the week I received two cds of relaxing music to chill out to on my off days.

Noshed on some Happy Hour food and I told Gordon Biersch that I follow them on Twitter, so got free garlic fries. Then the Twitter party started. Party was totally free, you just had to sign up prior. They had plenty of food and everyone got a free beer. Then we all went to the free screening of Your Highness, which was… Did someone lose a bet? I just don’t get it. How can you go to Black Swan to Your Highness? Just saying… It was very lowbrow humor, which had it’s moments. But I wouldn’t pay to see it in the theater.

I’ve made a list of birthday emails I received from companies where I received coupons for items where I don’t have to spend a cent to get the item. Just in case anyone wants to sign up for these places to get the freebies on their birthday too. These are some of the absolutely best deals. I don’t need to deal with the “Buy One Get One Free Deal”. So the following are things I received that have absolutely no strings attached.

  • $25 for Flying Fish (Can you believe that there is no minimum. I can even use on booze.)
  • Free regular cone from Marble Slab Creamery
  • Free LARGE soda from AMC
  • 10″ Pizza from Zpizza
  • Red Robin burger
  • Free entree from Hooters, but I have to go to Spokane…

I also went to Sephora and picked up my free gift. It was a bottle of bath soap that smells like vanilla birthday cake. I was unfortunate to not be able to go on my free birthday Spa day at Olympus Spa, and it can only be used on your actual birthday.

Then I got a ton of “Buy One Get One Free” deals or a certain percentage off a meal. Could be useful, but not as great as the no strings attached deals.

Not my most becoming picture, but it cracks even me up. Jen got the candles that keeps relighting, so everyone kept saying "Blow Kim, Blow". I eventually cheated though, wet my finger tips and took out those little flames. (Photo courtesy of Shawn N.)

Is that cake supposed to look like a you-know-what?

(Strange. Something happened where I don’t get emails when someone comments anymore. At least it shows it on the WordPress Dashboard.)

Yes. You never heard of the Erotic Bakery in Wallingford? Your choices are male parts or lady parts. Of course with the lady parts you have two choices for your cake. Upper half of lady or lower half of lady.
