First SIFF Saturday Part 1 of 3 – Star Studded Morning
A particularly long SIFF day that requires a 3 part blog. The first Saturday movie I attended was A Little Help. About a woman and her son who get caught up in a web of lies. Add in a her idiot husband, idiot sister, and idiot mother to the mix and you have yourself a dramedy.

From Left to Right: Director Michael J. Weithorn, Actor Rob Benedict, Actor David Yelsky, Actress Jenna Fischer
Director Michael J. Weithorn (creator of “King of Queens”), Jenna Fischer (from “The Office”), Rob Benedict (from shows such as Head Case and Supernatural) and David Yelsky were in attendance for this particular screening I attended. Any guest to a film is always a welcome addition.
I enjoyed this movie, but my favorite part was the parrot at the dentist’s office. Did you know that a human voice was actually used for the parrot? And that they had to go through many applicants to get just the right voice, and even then the director wasn’t fully happy with it. Just one of the many things I learned from the Q&A after the movie.

Jenna Fischer discussing her role in the movie during the Q&A.
Jenna Fischer was actually pretty good in the movie. Hopefully we get to see her in more films in the future. She happens to be quite the Survivor fan and discussed how she uses reality tv personalities as inspiration for her roles.
