Avatar – Take 2

You heard right! Avatar has been re-released in the theater with a WHOLE 9 minutes! I know what you are thinking… “That is just crazy amazing!” Or if you are like me, “eh and? Wonder what I should have for dinner?”.

First time I saw Avatar I saw at the Pacific Science Center IMAX and 3D of course. I wasn’t all that crazy about the story, but was blown away by the visuals. Story felt a little too much like a Captain Planet episode. If you’ve ever seen the show you know what I’m talking about. That show actually sucked, but I like watching cartoons prior to going to a morning job and that was the only one that was on. Sorry, went on the defensive of why I watched such a sucky cartoon ritualistically.

I would of never of paid to see it in the theater again, but my friend can get me in for free. So you know what that means… Of course I’m freaking going to go! As if I would say no. Sheesh. So take 2 of Avatar was in the same exact location and theater. Just add another 9 minutes of film.

What did I think of Avatar the second time around? Eh, pretty much exactly what my first conclusion was. Except less gag reflex when I had to re-swallow the large pill of “nature is everything and be good to earth” spiel. Visuals still astound me. The extra 9 minutes did absolutely nothing for me. All I really noticed different was a part about a school and a hunting scene. (I could be really really wrong about this, but I think they were new. Too lazy to google what exactly the new scenes were.)

Interesting factoid though. First time I saw it, I got very motion sick. This time I prepped by eating right before movie and I think sitting further away from screen helps tremendously. I have pretty bad habit of sitting closer than I need to in theater. Goes back to days of being blind as a bat and sitting right next to TV so I could see things clearly. Thank goodness for laser eye surgery. Being close to IMAX screen makes everything seem huge and you get sucked into the 3D world, which makes for a killer headache and some nausea for me.
