Upcoming SIFF Schedule

I’m posting a list of the upcoming SIFF movies I’ll be attending in the next couple of months, just in case anyone else wants to join me. Just picked up my tickets today.

Raider’s of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation

Even though it is doubled up with Raider’s of the Lost Ark, I unfortunately already have an engagement during that that time period. Rollergirl derby! Come out to the Derby this Saturday to support the Rat City Rollergirls as they go up against their rivals Portland! I will be attending the adaptation at 9:30pm after the derby. The adaptation is a fan film made by 3 12 year old boys, that is a shot-for-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Amazing how these 3 kids spent their next 6 years making this epic film. When I was 12 years old I was just playing with my barbies and did absolutely nothing epic, except for hanging all of barbies clothes on itty bitty hangers.

Red Cliff: The COMPLETE Version

This really is the “Complete” 5 hour version. Not the bastardized 2 hour version that was released in the States.  Chinese epic film, what more can I say…

Mommie Dearest Quote Along

I have a Facebook event up for this one, if anyone should want to join in the festivities. We are going to start out the afternoon with happy hour at Toulouse Petit around 4:30pm. They have a delicious happy hour that consists of about 50 different items priced in the $5 range. The food is seriously good. Happy hour ends at 5:30, so make sure to get there before that to get your order in on time. Around 7pm we will head down to SIFF cinema, get our wire hangers so that we can yell out “NO WIRE HANGERS”, while waving them around. I forgot to mention that there is going to be a costume contest. Some of us are going to dress up as Joan Crawford.

The Kingdom Marathon

Since I enjoy sitting in the dark for long periods of time, I’m going to do this 10+ hour screening of a Danish mini-series that I have absolutely no clue what it’s about. Sounds pretty entertaining though. It better be if I’m going to be in the theater from Noon till 10pm.

The Millennium Trilogy: The Mini-Series

I’ve been meaning to catch The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but kept missing it. Then then the second movie came out. Now there is a third movie. I haven’t seen any of them. So I’m going on April 2nd and sit through all 3 in one shot.  Because I’m crazy like that.

That is it with movies I currently have tickets for. There are a couple more I’m thinking about catching, but will be based on how much time and energy I have. Last minute pop-ins. Don’t forget about the SIFF Galas! The 3 Gala pass is still a bargain at $130 for SIFF members. Good excuse to get your hair done, get out your party dress, and drink like a lush! OPEN BAR! Oh yeah, there is also the movie that comes with each party. Did I mention the FOOD! Yeah it is dang crowded, but still will be tons of fun. You just have to do things the right way. And there is a ‘right’ way.

      Yay!

*sidenote* (in case anyone reads this and wondering) – I’ve stopped the importing of Facebook comments into the blog. It was kind of creeping me out. People’s full names and posts being shoved somewhere outside of where they originally posted it. It sounded like a good idea at first, but decided that it was wrong on a couple of levels.
